Coats Memorial from the roadside

The campaign, #100 days to Save Coats Memorial in Paisley, kicked off on the 1st February 2019.  We are raising funds to save this magnificent building which has lain empty and unused since the last church service in August 2018.

The plans are to turn this iconic Paisley landmark into a multi-purpose arts venue.  Please look through the website for more details.  Check the FAQ page for any questions you might need answered.  If you still require further information please do not hesitate to get in touch.  We hope that you will join the campaign to help us reach our target.

Update – May 2019 – Great News  – The Campaign Continues

The Coats Memorial Preservation Trust has announced  that following a recent Steering Group Meeting a decision has been made that our fundraising campaign will continue.  Ian Henderson, Chair of the Trust said;

‘The public response to our campaign to save this fabulous building has been impressive.  A total of more than 2,600 donations large and small have been received from individuals, Renfrewshire Council and from the purchase of debenture seats, commemorative bricks and souvenir plaques.  The interest generated by the auction has seen us raise significant funds for which we are hugely grateful. The recent sell out Eddi Reader concert run under the guidance of Tommy McGrory and Gary Kerr of LnP Promotions proved beyond doubt that Coats works as an entertainment venue which can attract a large audience.  Feedback from people who attended the concert has been hugely positive and this has confirmed our view that Coats will not only be saved but will thrive as a living building.  We have therefore started planning the schedule of work required to install the necessary electrics, heating and facilities required.  If all goes according to plan we shall have the doors open in good time for the Paisley Real Ale Festival next April.  Our fundraising efforts continue and we are planning to run further events at Coats over the summer which will be widely publicised. We look forward to seeing you there’.
